The Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency (AMADA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Anti-Doping Agency Austria (NADA Austria) during a working visit to Vienna from 10 to 12 December 2025.
The delegation included AMADA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Tahmina Taghi-zada and Deputy CEO Dr. Rufat Efendiyev. The agreement was signed in Vienna by Dr. Taghi-zada and Michael Cepic, Chief Executive Officer of NADA Austria, formalising a new framework for cooperation between the two agencies.
The MoU sets out areas of collaboration in line with the World Anti-Doping Code and the International Standards. These include results management, anti-doping education and prevention, testing, research, and intelligence and investigations, with a focus on the exchange of expertise, best practices and consultative support on complex cases.
In parallel with the signing, a series of working meetings was held at NADA Austria’s headquarters. Presentations covered legal affairs, education programmes, testing operations and the IRIS system, offering insight into Austria’s operational and regulatory approaches to anti-doping.
On 12 December, the AMADA delegation visited the WADA-accredited Doping Control Laboratory in Seibersdorf, where Prof. Dr. Günter Gmeiner, Director of the laboratory, outlined its role within the global anti-doping system and presented current scientific and analytical methods used in doping control.
Both agencies said the visit and the signing of the MoU represented an important step towards strengthening international cooperation and enhancing the effectiveness of national anti-doping programmes through shared experience and coordinated action.
