As part of the “President’s Cup–2025” international rowing regatta - dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan in cooperation with the Azerbaijan Canoe and Rowing Federation - a special event was held for residents recently relocated to the newly established settlement in the Fuzuli region. The event took place by the Kondalanchay Reservoir and featured an anti-doping awareness program conducted by the Azerbaijan National Antidoping Agency (AMADA).
The primary aim of the program was to raise awareness about the dangers of doping, promote understanding of anti-doping regulations, and emphasize the importance of preserving a healthy and fair sporting environment. AMADA experts provided participants with comprehensive information on the physical, psychological, and social consequences of doping. They highlighted that doping poses serious risks to athletes' health and can lead to irreversible harm. Moreover, doping undermines fair competition, falsifies results, and erodes the ethical values fundamental to sport.
Throughout the program, participants were informed about anti-doping rule violations, the list of prohibited substances, the negative impact of doping on athletic careers, and the broader risks associated with drug abuse.
Interactive quizzes were also organized as part of the event, allowing participants to test their knowledge of anti-doping rules. Those who answered correctly received commemorative gifts.
AMADA’s information stand generated significant interest, drawing visits not only from members of the local sports community but also from Jean Zoungrana, President of the European Canoe Association.
A healthy sporting environment is fostered not only through physical preparation but also through a steadfast commitment to moral and ethical principles. The fight against doping must be viewed as a collective responsibility shared by government institutions, sports federations, and society as a whole. Upholding the principles of clean sport remains essential to safeguarding the future of sport.
